Afaayo’s identity is rooted in christianity. The word ‘afaayo’ comes from the Luganda language and means ‘God cares’. We are united in the belief that the Bible is the Word of God, which has enduring relevance in today’s world. By God’s grace we are able to look after those whom He has entrusted to our care.
Our focus is on the health and wellbeing of the most vulnerable groups in society. Therefore we support volunteers who want to use their skills and experience in medicare to work in Africa. This way, Afaayo directly helps children and mothers in need. Volunteers can have a short term assignment of several months and focus on one project, or be active in the field permanently.
Our volunteers sign a ‘voluntary worker agreement’ prior to commencing their work for Afaayo. The voluntary nature of our associates’ activities is the core of how we operate. This means we raise funds to cover the expenses necessary for our people to do their work.
