Afaayo helps Springs of Grace build key facilities

An important project during the second quarter of 2021 will be the involvement of Afaayo in key facilities at Springs of Grace. This daycare and nursery school south of Kampala is carefully considering options to reopen parts of their facilities. So far government restrictions mean they have to wait.

The time is used to finalize several facilities to accommodate larger numbers of children. Work had started to realize sanitary facilities. Though a toilet building was built, there currently are no funds to complete this key amenity.

Right now Springs of Grace only accommodates a very small number of children to support them with ‘home learning’.

Extra food support provided to families in need

Afaayo has provided extra food support to families living in the villages near one of our projects. These poor families received small amounts of financial aid. With the money we help them cover the cost of food expenses. An amount of €225 has provided relief to another 10 families with disabled children.

Many people in Uganda are hit unevenly hard by the coronavirus pandemic. It is safe to assume that many have lost their jobs. This is due to the sharp decline in the services and tourism industries. This comes on top of an already high – estimated – pre pandemic unemployment rate of over 9 per cent.

Last year Afaayo held a food support campaign. We provided additional means for many poor families in urgent need. Thanks to our generous sponsors we raised an amount that enabled us to organize an additional round of support.
